Providing Opportunities for you to Grow
Therapeutic Counseling
Whatever experience has brought you to seek counseling, I am thankful that you are here. I can help you find your way through grief, anger, anxiety, stress, pain, and hopelessness. As a therapist, my first goal is to listen. I will journey alongside you, gently guiding your path to mental wellness. My goal is to educate you and give you tools for your health toolbox.
*I can legally only see clients for counseling who reside in Texas.
**I am supervised by Lori Copeland, LPC-S.
Individual therapy
This is the most popular choice for therapy. I see children, teenagers, and adults for individual therapy sessions. We will work together to find durable solutions and tools in order to reduce symptoms and increase your quality of life.
Couples therapy
Choose couples therapy when the work you need to do is directly tied to another person. Couples therapy is typically a four session commitment. The first and fourth sessions are together as a couple while the second and third sessions allow me a chance to work more intensely with each person. I allow my clients to define what a couple is to them.
Family therapy
Family therapy is a good option when an experience is affecting the entire household. While we can work through the presenting issues as a family unit, individual therapy is often recommended alongside family therapy.
Pastoral Guidance
There are times when the best way to get help is through your faith, but it can feel overwhelming to go on this journey alone. As an ordained Baptist minister, that's where I can help. I believe that your beliefs have answers and tools and encouragements to help you overcome what is weighing you down. I will seek to understand your faith and to help you use it for healing, growth, and to find your next right step.
Pastoral care
Pastoral care is best for those who want to experience individual therapy with a strong emphasis on how their faith fits into their healing. I will offer practices and experiences that will help to guide you towards healing while holding firm to your core faith beliefs. Pastoral care can involve prayer and reading from sacred texts.
Spiritual direction
Spiritual direction is best for those who are firm in their faith and wish to use it to help them find their next right step. I will help to hold space for you as you prayerfully consider your past, present, and future in light of your faith. I will offer reflections and help to guide you to find the answers you are seeking within your faith framework.
ministry coaching
Ministry coaching is best for those who are currently in ministry or for those who feel called to ministry. As your coach, I will help you to discern and develop your call to ministry. This is helpful to ministers who are considering a a first-time call as well as those who are considering a change in their area of expertise or setting. Ministry coaching can also help ministers cope with the growing and evolving demands of being a ministry professional.
Church Consulting
Churches can struggle just like individuals. Churches can need help with knowing what the next right step is for them, understanding how to heal from traumatic experiences and how to move on after the loss of a beloved minister. Ministerial staff cannot and should not be asked to burden these challenges alone. As a trained church consultant, I can provide professional guidance and critical help when your church needs it most to create opportunities from the hurdles that your church is facing.
visioning
Churches can get stuck just like people can get stuck. Visioning, or strategic planning, is the process to help your church assess its strengths, become aware of its present realities and dream about a future that is both doable and durable. This process typically takes place over four separate whole church sessions as well as two retreat-style sessions with a smaller team appointed as ambassadors of the church.
pastoral transition
When pastoral staff leave for whatever reason, there is a grieving process that occurs both within in the entire church body and among the remaining staff. I can help this process be a healing journey for all involved and equip your congregation to receive the incoming minister with care, kindness, and intentionality. This process varies in number of sessions needed.
conflict reconciliation
Churches can become hotbeds of tension and disagreement. This is not helpful for members, staff, or visitors. As a church consultant, I can help you identify the aggravating issues, design a method to process through the emotional fallout of those issues and provide guidance on next steps. This is a healing journey and it will take time but together we can stop ignoring the pain within your congregation and find new, healthier ways of being a church family. This process typically involves at least three sessions.
group education
Sometimes your church needs to be educated on issues of psychology, theology, or education. I can help! As a licensed professional educator, I have experience teaching a variety of topics to many different audiences. Topics for group education could be grief, staff dynamics, sex education, suicide, mental illness, evolving church structures, or theological interpretation. If you don't see your topic listed, let's talk about how I can help.
